This insightful lecture will feature a keynote address by Dr Glenn Tiffert, a distinguished research fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, on the topic of “China’s Role in Artificial Intelligence, Emerging Technology, and New Energy.”
Dr. Tiffert will share his insight on the dynamics of China’s influence in critical and emerging technological spheres and global implications for U.S.-China science and technology relationship on global policy and security. The event will also provide a platform for engaging discussions on the intricate intersections of geopolitics and innovation.
Sir Peter Mathieson, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, who will provide opening remarks, further enriching the discourse on this vital subject.
About the speaker
Dr Glenn Tiffert is renowned for his expertise as a historian of modern China and his extensive work in science and technology policy. As a distinguished research fellow at the Hoover Institution and a historian of modern China, he co-chairs the program on the US, China, and the World and is pivotal in leading Stanford’s contributions to the SECURE program—a $67 million initiative aimed at enhancing the security and integrity of the US research enterprise.
Dr Tiffert’s efforts in documenting and countering authoritarian influences on democratic institutions are recognised globally. His notable publication, Silicon Triangle: The United States, Taiwan, China, and Global Semiconductor Security, reflects his deep engagement with issues at the nexus of geopolitics and technology.
